Cristhofer Fonseca Daboin had been in the US since October, 2023. He is now in CECOT.

Detainment and deportation

Cristhofer worked at a construction site in Texas and had already attended 2 immigration appointments as part of the process to legalize his status. His next scheduled immigration appointments was in 2026.

At the end of January, Cristhofer was on his way to work in a rented vehicle when he was stopped by ICE. On March 15 he was transferred to CECOT in El Salvador. In a video released by the government of El Salvador, Cristhofer’s mother recognized him among the prisoners in white with shaved heads.

Not a criminal

According to his family, Cristhofer is a hardworking boy from an honest family. He has a daughter to whom he was sending money for study and food. He has never committed a crime, been in prison, and has a tattoo on his hand not linked to gang activity. His family spoke to him on March 14, which was his 25th birthday. He told his family he was tobe deported to Venezuela, which he was happy about. He had expressed a desire to return to Venezuela when Trump assumed the presidency, but had decided to stay and work for one more year to raise funds.
