Mikael Subero

Mikael Subero lived in New York City since 2023. He is now confirmed to be one of the men in CECOT.

Coming to the US

On September 11, 2023, Mikael left the State of Nueva Esparta bound for the US, crossing through the Darien jungle. He was in Mexico for a month as he waited for his immigration appointment on December 9 through the CBP One app. Once he entered the US, he settled in New York City where he worked as a barber and lived with Glorybet Acosta, his wife.

Detainment and Deportation

On February 13, 2025 Glorybet was on her way to work when she was stopped by ICE agents and DEA and questioned about a person of Dominican origin. She told them she was unaware of that individual, but agreed to allow the agents to enter her apartment when they asked. She woke Mikael who was sleeping at the time. The agents then proceeded to handcuff both she and Mikhail. Although the agents promised to investigate in more depth the Dominican migrant they were looking for, they instead took Mikael in for prosecution. Mikael has no criminal record but was still detained.

On March 16, Glorybet learned that Mikael has been transferred toCECOT after it was alleged he was a member of Tren de Aragua.
