Carlos Alexi Uzcategui Vielma

Carlos Alexi Uzcategui  Vielma came to the US through the CPB One app.  He is now in CECOT in El Salvador.

Coming to the US:

Carlos worked in the coal mines in Venezuela.  When he lost his job he left Venezuela through the Darien jungle to Mexico.  There he had a months long wait to attend an arranged appointment through the CBP app. While waiting he worked at a restaurant in Mexico.  On November 21, 2024 Carlos received confirmation through the CBP One app that he had been selected for an appointment at a port of entry.  In December, he crossed into the US for that appointment where he was detained due to his tattoos.  Carlos has tattoos that are often used to confirm gang affiliation with Tren de Aragua: a star, and a crown with I love you brother written beneath it.  After being detained for three months, he was ordered deported.

Expulsion to CECOT:

The paperwork regarding his expulsion said he would be deported to Venezuela. The official court records contains no allegation of gang activity.  Carlos chose not to appeal the decision.  He felt just getting home was his best option. He called his wife on March 15 and said he would be deported to Venezuela that day.  He was looking forward to being home on time for his daughter’s birthday.  Instead he was among the men sent to CECOT in El Salvador.  There is no evidence that Carlos has committed a crime in the US or Venezuela.
