Widmer Josneyder Agelviz Sanguino

Arrival in the US

Before traveling with his mother and siblings to Ecuador, Widmer was finishing his studies in Electromechanical Engineering in Cristobal, Venezuela. With the help of Mindefensa Program that helps migrants and refugees of Cuba, Haiti, and Venezuela travel safely, Widmer traveled legally to the US ready to work. When he arrived in Houston, he was arrested due to his tattoos, a watch and a rose on his arms. His family had faith since he had no criminal record, and was healthy and hard working. A lawyer was hired and months passed while he was in the process of applying for asylum. He had an asylum claim hearing scheduled on April 1.

Expulsion

Widmer contacted his mother on March 13 and told her he would be transferred. Although a lawyer assured her he could not be deported due to his pending asylum case, it was confirmed that he had been taken to El Salvador on March 15.
